Two tower climbers were cited for illegally possessing marijuana at a Hudson Valley tower site in New York State on Dec. 24. The workers, who were subcontracted by T-Mobile, had aroused suspicion when they cut through the parking at a trooper barracks in an unmarked van on the way to the tower.
During questioning, the authorities smelled the marijuana and found several bags of pot while searching the men. Drug use is mentioned by tower service company owners as an serious issue in hiring new tower climbers.
