February 18, 2016 — The wife of the climber that fell from a tower in Rosenberg, Texas, has made an impassioned plea to raise money to pay for medical bills through a GoFundMe Page.
Wesley Scott Jr. was descending the tower at the end of the day on February 12 when he lost his footing, his fall-arrest equipment failed and he fell possibly 50 feet. He suffered extensive injuries to his arm, knees, ankles, feet and back.
According to the Wireless Estimator, both the gates on two lanyards appeared to have failed.
“He was climbing down the tower after a perfect day at work, using his gear SAFELY as he ALWAYS does! On his way down his footing slipped, but he was clipped on to the tower!!! His equipment FAILED him!” Kirsten wrote. “Anything you can do to help is so much appreciated. Since he won’t be able to work for a while and he was the only one working, we will need money to pay bills for the next few months while he is rehabbing.” The Scotts have a 3-year-old daughter and live in Magnolia, Texas.
Scott was working for Advanced Cellular Solutions, which had been contracted to perform LTE work for AT&T by Mastec Network Solutions. The tower is owned by American Tower.
