January 14, 2016 — Similar to NFV and SDN, HetNets are on track for progress in 2016 but will take a bit longer to come into play. To really create such automated, agile, and self-tuning networks that will can create value (and that is the operative word) for both providers, and users, will require a circle of real-time statistics feeding into real-time analytical tools (big data). The will result in feedback that the network will use to dynamically implement changes that will keep the network operating at optimal conditions.
This year we will see these tools finally become integrated and offer the ability to reprogram network on the fly. Service providers, broadcasters, municipalities and enterprises, etc. will all begin to see the real the value of this since they share a common requirement of needing to know what is going on in their networks. With real-time automated self-organizing networks they no longer have to guess what has to go where, and when. It will be done for them. This is going to be hot in 2016.
