Mobile Breakthrough disclosed it has selected Mike Finley as CEO of the Year, and it gave Boingo its award for Small Cell Technology Solution Provider of the Year. Part of Tech Breakthrough, Mobile Breakthrough said it is a market intelligence and recognition platform for global technology innovation and leadership, and its awards program is devoted to honoring excellence in mobile and wireless technology companies, products and people. The organization said it received more than 2,600 award nominations.
“This is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the remarkable team at Boingo who have moved with velocity to keep our customers connected,” said Finley. “In a hyper-connected 5G world, Boingo’s work as a leading small cell provider has never been more important as large venues and enterprises depend on us to accelerate their digital transformation. It has been an unprecedented year, but the strength and resiliency of our team has shown through.”
Mobile Breakthrough described Finley as a wireless industry veteran who has served for more than three decades in senior management roles for telecommunications companies.
“He joined Boingo as CEO in 2019, where he is responsible for the company’s strategic vision and accelerating growth,” a statement from Mobile Breakthrough reads. “Under his leadership, Boingo has grown to one of the largest providers of indoor wireless networks with a vast footprint of small cells, DAS, Wi-Fi and macro towers. Major airports, transportation hubs, stadiums, military bases, hospitals and commercial properties trust Boingo to design, build and manage converged, neutral host public and private networks.”
The mission of the Mobile Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success of industry leaders and companies across a range of mobile and wireless technology categories, according to Mobile Breakthrough. It said the nominations were evaluated by an independent panel of experts within the wireless industry.
“We welcomed thousands of compelling submissions this year, and there was fierce competition for our marquee CEO of the Year award,” said James Johnson, managing director of Mobile Breakthrough. “There’s great confidence in Finley and the company’s vital place in the wireless mobile ecosystem. Boingo CEO Mike Finley is a standout executive who is incredibly deserving of the 2021 CEO of the Year award.”
