Cambridge Broadband Networks’ VectaStar Metro, a carrier-grade backhaul solution for small-cell networks, is the latest member of the VectaStar family. It’s fully compatible with the company’s VectaStar Gigabit macro backhaul platform and provides mobile operators with a complete network backhaul solution, or it can be used in conjunction with existing microwave or fiber networks. The small-cell solution is highly efficient and scalable and designed in a compact and discreet form factor. It can be quickly and easily fixed to walls, lamp posts or street signs with minimal setup requirements. Featuring a zero indoor footprint design, a compact form factor and an integrated antenna, it is a street-level installation capable of operating in a range of frequencies (26, 27 and 28 GHz). Delivering a high capacity of 300 Mb/s into each small-cell sector and up to 2.4 Gb per hub site, VectaStar Metro aggregates cell-site traffic to improve spectral efficiency by 40 percent compared to point-to-point systems.
