September 29, 2016 — S&N Communications has raised nearly $35,000 to aid employees affected by the Louisiana floods. When the wireless infrastructure construction company found out that six of its employees lost almost everything in the floods it crafted the emergency-relief campaign to raise the money.
The S&N campaign, dubbed Strength In Numbers, was launched within 48 hours. A GoFundMe page was established alongside a weekly e-mail to employees nationwide at S&N and its three subsidiary companies, SCE, Inc., Tower16 and Stake Center Locating. The company also began collecting donated PTO hours for the hard-hit employees.
“Our hearts immediately went out to those employees who had lost their homes, cars, clothing…everything,” says Allen Powell, CEO and president of S&N. “We knew our family of employees would want to help. We selected the ‘Strength In Numbers’ tagline for our flood relief campaign because we know that we’re stronger together. And that together, we could make a difference in the lives of these employees.”
Along with S&N Communications, several organizations and individuals unaffiliated with the company, and over 110 employees contributed to one or both campaigns. The company raised $34,800 in both cash and monetized value of PTO hours to help the affected employees recover.
“Obviously, you hope no one ever has to suffer through something like this,” says Powell. “But we were all inspired by how we came together at the end of the day.”
